Açıklama

We first stood addressed by the “Word”, and we gave a word in the realm of the primordial covenant between Allah and us — Bazm-i Alast. As our journey from pre-eternity put forth its shoots toward this worldly plane of being, even in our mother’s womb, it was sounds and words that greeted us before all other senses. When we opened our eyes for the  rst time, words became our cradle; we grew by trying  rst to know life through words. And for a lifetime we strive to live upright behind every word that leaves our lips, not to forget that last word to be u ered with our  nal breath. We bind ourselves to life with words; we keep our communication with people by means of words. With words, we understand, we explain, and we are understood; by our words we know, we are known, and we come to know one another. As Mawlânâ Jalâluddîn Rumi (13th century Su  poet) reminds us, “ e body can bear many burdens, but the heart cannot bear every word.” And, as Yunus Emre (14th century Turkish folk poet) — the deep voice of Anatolia — says, a single “word” can be keen enough to end a war or to cost one’s head and can be sweet enough to make the honey of a poisoned love edible. Knowing the weight of the “word,” we strive to reach hearts with words that are beautiful. We believe that a word spoken at the tip of the tongue will reach only the ear, whereas a word spoken from the heart will travel to the heart. With two ears and one mouth, we listen twice and speak once.
